What is Materials Science and Engineering?
Materials Science and Engineering is focussed on the development of new and better materials for the next generation of engineering applications. It views the fundamentals of biomaterials, nanomaterials, ceramics, metals, polymers, electronic materials and composites, emphasising the relationships between atomic structure and microstructure as well as the properties, processing and performance of the material.
In this new century, sustainability and environmental impact lie at the core of materials development and application.

Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) keeps your options open. With a degree in MSE you can work in cutting edge industries such as mining, biomedical and aerospace, or you can move on to obtain an advanced degree in almost any field. Graduates are not locked into a particular industry, which means materials engineering is a recession tolerant career choice.
